Student Mental Health Care Services
Student Wellness Program
General Information
about Student
Wellness Program
The School of Health Related Professions (SHRP)
has established a free and confidential service
designed to assist students in their adjustment
to the stresses and pressures of school life.
Student concerns are addressed through a variety
of Student Wellness Services including short-term,
focused counseling for individuals, couples,
and families; prevention-oriented groups and
workshops; assessment and referral for specialized
substance abuse treatment; training and consultation
for peer support groups; and crisis intervention.
Mental health professionals who are independent
of the school and who have no role in academic
decisions provide the services. In case of formal
evaluations (e.g. psychiatric) requested by
the Office of Student Services, they will be
provided by professionals independent of the
Student Wellness Program.
The Student Wellness Program services are available
to all students enrolled in academic programs
at participating schools on the Piscataway,
Stratford/Camden, Scotch Plains and Newark campuses.
Additionally, services are available to family
members who reside within a student's household.
The Student Wellness Program services are fee-free
to students and to members of their household
that reside with them.
