MS in
Health Sciences – Clinical Laboratory
Sciences Track (MSHS-CLS)
The MSHS-CLS program is a 30 credit,
fully online master's degree offering
from the Department of Interdisciplinary
Studies (IDST) in collaboration with the
UMDNJ-SHRP Department of Clinical Laboratory
Sciences. The curriculum consists
of a 9-credit core taken by all Master
of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS) students,
18 credits of coursework specific to the
Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) specialization/track,
and a 3-credit graduate project completed
by all MSHS students.
The MSHS-CLS Program only accepts BS-prepared
clinical laboratory professionals who
are certified or licensed to practice
Clinical Laboratory Science in the United
States. The goal of the degree program
is to help such professionals to; 1) enhance
their current knowledge and skills in
the clinical laboratory sciences to meet
the challenges of a changing profession
and health care system; 2) develop a more
sophisticated approach to accessing, evaluating,
synthesizing, and communicating health-related
information; and 3) become a more effective
contributor, and assume a greater leadership
role in the clinical laboratory profession.
Graduate
Certificate in Clinical Laboratory Science
The Graduate Certificate in Clinical
Laboratory Science is an online, 12-credit
post professional course of study offered
by the Department of Clinical Laboratory
Sciences. The course of study consists
of 6 credits of required and 6 credits
of elective specialization courses. The
course of study culminates in a Certificate
issued by the UMDNJ-Center
for Advanced and Continuing Education.
The Graduate Certificate in Clinical
Laboratory Sciences only accepts BS-prepared
clinical laboratory professionals who
are certified or licensed to practice
Clinical Laboratory Science in the United
States. It is designed
for practicing professionals who want
to advance their knowledge and skills
in the clinical laboratory sciences and
develop new proficiencies needed to meet
the challenges of a changing profession
and health care system.
